Giving back

Real Bytes gives back.

Real Bytes exists because of Australian communities. Our team comes from here and our clients are here. When a community thrives, IT security and digital literacy stop being a privilege and become something everyone can reach.

Why community

Community is foundational to who we are.

An MSP is only as useful as the people it serves. The engineers who answer our helpdesk grew up in Brisbane suburbs, regional Queensland towns and communities across Australia. The businesses we look after employ the parents, coaches and volunteers who keep those same communities running.

So giving back is not a side project. It is the same work we do every day, pointed at organisations that would not otherwise have access to it: reliable devices, secure accounts, working networks and people who will pick up the phone.

The programs below are how we do that in practice. Some are ongoing partnerships, some are one-off contributions, and all of them are chosen because the organisation is doing real work for real people.

For not-for-profits

Are you an NFP after IT support, or a leg up?

We would love to talk. Not-for-profits are our favourite kind of humans, people doing hard, useful work for others, usually on a budget that never quite stretches to the technology side.

Whether you need a full managed IT and security service, a hand untangling one specific mess, or a genuine leg up, start the conversation and we will tell you honestly what we can do.

  • Managed IT and cyber security built for lean NFP teams
  • Not-for-profit licensing and grant-funded pricing paths
  • Pro-bono and discounted support where the case is strong

What it adds up to

Leadership and support, in practice.

  • Leadership

Scouts turns young people into decision makers. We back the leaders those programs create, because they end up running the teams and communities we serve.

  • Support

Practical help, not slogans. Working devices, secure accounts and someone who picks up the phone for organisations that could not otherwise buy it.

  • Belonging

Clubs, troops and community groups give people somewhere to turn up and be counted. Keeping them running keeps people connected.

  • Staying in the game

Sponsoring The Old Guard at the Pan Pacific Masters Games says something simple: you do not age out of competing, contributing or being part of a team.

How we give back

Eight programs, three ways of working.

01

Access and pro-bono

Putting working technology in the hands of organisations that would otherwise go without.

  • Digital access

Providing technology infrastructure and support to community organisations and non-profits.

  • Pro-bono support

Delivering IT services at no cost to selected charities and community groups.

  • Equipment recycling

Refurbishing and donating retired IT equipment to schools, charities and community programs.

02

Skills and people

Sharing what our engineers know, and giving them time to show up for their communities.

  • Skills development

Offering training and mentorship in cybersecurity, IT management and digital literacy.

  • Team volunteering

Encouraging staff participation in community projects and charitable initiatives.

  • Indigenous partnership

Working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to close the digital divide.

03

Environment and advocacy

Running the business in a way that leaves less behind and pushes for fairer access.

  • Environmental care

Responsible e-waste management and carbon-conscious operations across all services.

  • Advocacy and policy

Supporting policy initiatives that improve digital equity and access for marginalised communities.

ESG commitments

The standards behind the giving.

Questions

Common questions about our community work.

We work with a selected group of charities and community organisations, prioritising Australian groups where reliable technology directly affects the people they serve. Start with a conversation through our contact page and tell us who you support and where technology is getting in the way.
