Support for your IT team

You have an IT person. They cannot do it all.

One or two people cannot run the help desk, deliver a migration, cover leave and stay across security all at once. We add senior engineers where your team needs them, work in your tools and hand back the know-how. Your team stays in charge.

  • Your tools, your process
  • Named accounts, every change traceable
  • Billed in arrears

When it helps

When these moments come, your team is not on its own.

Co-managed IT is not all or nothing. Most teams start with one of these.

A big project lands on a small team

A Microsoft 365 move, a new office network, a server retirement. We supply the engineers for the project, and your team keeps the day-to-day running.

  • Scoped and quoted before work starts
  • Documented as we go

Who owns what

Draft the split in a minute.

Choose who should own each job. Copy the result and take it to your IT lead, or bring it to our first meeting.

Co-managed IT: who owns what

Your team: day-to-day help desk, supplier and carrier faults
Shared: patching and updates, backups and restore tests
Real Bytes: projects and migrations, security monitoring and response, after-hours calls, leave cover

Real Bytes works in our tools, with its own named accounts, and documents as it goes.

We agree the real split with your IT lead in the first meeting and write it down, so nothing overlaps and nothing falls through.

The skills gap

The specialists are the hard part to hire.

Security and cloud specialists are still hard to hire in Australia. They are also the skills a small IT team most often needs for a few days a month, not full time.

How it works

How we work alongside your team.

  1. Step 1Agree the split

We sit down with your IT lead and write down who owns what. No overlap, no gaps.

  2. Step 2Get access

We work in your systems and tools, with our own named accounts so every change is traceable.

  3. Step 3Do the work

Our engineers work alongside your team and document as they go.

  4. Step 4Hand it back

When a project ends, your team gets the notes and the know-how, not a dependency.

Questions

What people ask before they call.

What is co-managed IT?

You keep your own IT staff, and we add engineers where they need help. That might be a project, specialist skills, holiday cover or after-hours support. Your team stays in charge of your systems.

Will you try to replace our IT team?

No. The point is to make your team stronger. We agree who owns what at the start and we document our work so your people learn from it.

Do we have to use your tools?

No. We work in your ticketing system and your tools, with our own named accounts so every change is traceable. Where you do not have something, we can suggest what we use.

Why not just hire another engineer?

Sometimes that is the right answer, and we will say so. The catch is the specialist work. Cyber security architects and cloud engineers are on Jobs and Skills Australia's 2026 national shortage list, and have been for years, so one hire is slow, expensive and still only one set of skills. Co-managed IT gives your team several specialists for the hours you actually need them.

Is there a lock-in contract?

No long lock-in. You are billed in arrears, and the split can change as your team changes.

Next step

Where is your team stretched?

Tell us what is on your team's plate. We will tell you honestly where extra hands would help and where they would not.
