Operational Technology
Practice 01

Run the environment so the business does not have to think about it.

Managed services is the operating relationship behind everything else we do. Helpdesk, identity, endpoint, Microsoft 365, backup, and vendor management run under a documented baseline by senior Brisbane-based engineers.

Most managed service contracts go quiet because nobody can tell whether they are working. Ours are designed to be visible. You can see the SLA, the ticket history, the licence position, and the next thing on the roadmap, because we share the documentation, not just the invoice.

What we run

Six operating functions, one operating standard.

Each capability is delivered against a documented baseline. The baselines are reviewed against your business each quarter, not left to drift between renewals.

01

Australian helpdesk

Senior engineers based in Brisbane. The person who picks up the phone has access to your documentation, your environment, and the authority to make a change. No offshore ticket triage layer.

Average first-touch resolution sits above 70% across the client base. The rest is escalated to a named engineer, not a queue.

02

Identity and endpoint

Microsoft Entra ID and Intune as the source of truth for user identity, device posture, and application access. Conditional access, MFA, and device compliance built against documented baselines.

Same baselines apply across the client portfolio. Drift is detected and corrected as part of routine operations.

03

Microsoft 365 operations

Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Purview run under a documented governance model. Mailbox sharing, external collaboration, retention, and data classification managed against the baseline.

Native M365 backup gaps are covered by a third-party backup configured on your behalf, not left as an open risk.

04

Backup and recovery

Documented protection across endpoints, servers, Microsoft 365, and infrastructure. Restore tests run on a published schedule. Recovery objectives written into the service agreement, not implied.

Backup is not a checkbox. We test restores because backup software that has never been tested is not backup software.

05

Vendor and licence management

Microsoft, Cisco, Meraki, Adobe, security tooling, telecommunications. Renewals tracked twelve months out, with the commercial position surfaced before it lands as a surprise.

Quarterly account reviews. End-of-sale and end-of-support announcements flagged at vendor publication, not at end of life.

06

Service governance

A named technical account manager. Monthly reporting against agreed targets. Quarterly business reviews with the senior engineer, not a sales person.

The IT roadmap is a working document we maintain with you, not a slide deck rebuilt before each meeting.

Australian professional services office with staff at workstations
In the field

A 90-person professional services firm in inner-city Brisbane.

Inherited environment with three previous IT providers visible in the documentation. Identity was split across two tenants. Endpoint management had been started but never completed. Backup was running but nobody had tested a restore in over eighteen months.

First six months focused on consolidation rather than new tooling. Single tenant, single endpoint baseline, single backup target with tested restores. The licence position rationalised down by 11% in the first quarter, without removing any capability.

Twelve months in, the environment runs against a documented baseline. The internal operations manager sees the same dashboard we do. Quarterly reviews focus on the business roadmap, not firefighting.

Outcome

Ticket volume reduced 38% against the prior provider baseline. Two days a month of internal staff time previously spent chasing IT issues recovered.

Why it matters commercially

The environment is the operational backbone, not a department.

A managed service relationship works when the client stops noticing it. That is the operating definition of value, and it is harder than it sounds.

The commercial value of managed services is not the helpdesk response time. It is the staff time recovered when the environment does what it is supposed to do. It is the absence of the meeting where someone explains why the file server is down. It is the audit that finishes on the first attempt because the documentation existed.

The way to get there is not more tooling. It is operating discipline applied consistently over multiple years. The same backup test cadence. The same patch baseline. The same identity model. The same review meeting on the same week of the quarter.

We price the relationship to make that sustainable. The model is on the table, the rate card is published, and the SLA is written in plain English. The relationship is designed to last five to seven years, not to extract margin in the first one.

What changes for the business
  • Predictable monthly run rate with no surprise change orders.
  • Documented environment that survives staff turnover on either side.
  • Senior engineering capacity available without a hire.
  • Audit-ready posture across Microsoft 365, identity, and endpoint.
The useful first conversation

Tell us what is actually broken.

The first call is not a pitch. It is a senior engineer asking what is on fire, what is fragile, and what is being quietly ignored in your environment. From there we work out which of the three practices is relevant, in what order, and what an honest commercial position looks like.
