Managed IT in Sydney

IT support for Sydney businesses, from a team that owns the problem until it is fixed.

When your IT provider is a ticket queue, small problems turn into lost days and nobody can tell you whether you are actually secure. We look after your computers, Microsoft 365, security and backups every day. When something breaks, you call an engineer who already knows your setup, and we own it until it is fixed.

We have people in Sydney, the work is done remotely, and a business anywhere in Australia gets the same team.

What we run

One team across support, security and the cloud.

We bring the day-to-day helpdesk together with the security and governance work that used to be a separate, expensive conversation. It runs as one service, with one team that knows your Sydney setup, whether you are in Law firms, Accountants and Insurance brokers or somewhere close by.

Downtime cost

What IT problems cost your team each year.

Put in your own numbers. Small daily delays add up to real wages over a year, before you count a single outage.

Small numbers add up over a year.

Most of these hours come from problems monitoring would catch first: updates that failed, disks filling up, a backup that stopped. We fix the cause, not just the ticket, so the same thing does not cost you twice.

Your numbers, wages only, before super, on-costs and lost sales. The $93,500 is the average self-reported cost per cybercrime report from businesses in ASD's Annual Cyber Threat Report 2025-26.

Coverage

One team, right across Australia.

Brisbane is home and most support is done remotely, with people and a partner office in Melbourne. Sydney gets the same engineers, the same security baseline and the same ticket queue as everywhere on this map, and we arrange on-site work when a job needs hands on it.

Where this starts

Sydney has its own way of working.

When something breaks, you call an engineer who already knows your setup, and we own it until it is fixed.

Most of the Sydney businesses we look after have between 5 and 150 staff. They have outgrown one busy person doing the IT on the side, but are not big enough to hire a full IT team.

Clients, insurers and regulators increasingly ask for proof, not promises: a second sign-in step on every account, protection on every computer, backups that cannot be deleted and a plan for what happens if you are attacked. We put those in place and keep written records, so the next questionnaire takes minutes, not weeks.

The Sydney businesses we support most often work in Law firms, Accountants, Insurance brokers, Financial services, Community housing, Schools, Manufacturers and Professional services. The baseline is the same across all of them. What changes is the detail.

Fresh data

The problem we keep seeing

The same three things break, over and over.

We have onboarded enough businesses like yours in Sydney to know the pattern. It is almost never one dramatic failure. It is the same quiet gaps, left long enough to become a problem on the worst possible day.

  • An insurer or client sends a security questionnaire, and nobody in the business can answer it with confidence.
  • Head office and other sites have been set up differently over the years, so sign-ins, updates and backups do not match.
  • Calls go to an offshore helpdesk that has to learn your setup from scratch every time.

None of these need heroics. They need someone accountable who does the unglamorous work before it bites. Most are the result of growing faster than the original IT setup was designed for, and our job is to bring it up to a defensible baseline without breaking the day-to-day.

Two ways to run IT

Waiting for things to break, or someone looking after it every day.

Most Sydney businesses do not lose money on the cost of a fix. They lose it on the hours of downtime around it. The difference between these two models is who is watching, and whether problems are caught before they reach your staff.

When a provider only turns up after something breaks, nobody keeps updates, backups and security in shape in between. We watch your computers and accounts every day, keep written records of what is in place, and when something goes wrong you talk to an engineer who already knows your setup. After a three month minimum term you are month to month, and you are billed in arrears.

What happensCall when it breaksReal Bytes managed support
When something breaksYou notice the outage, log a job, then wait for someone to become available.Monitoring usually catches the fault before staff do, and a fix is already underway.
Patching and updatesDone sporadically, often only after a problem forces it. Known vulnerabilities sit open.Scheduled and verified on a regular cycle, so the environment stays current and defensible.
Cost behaviourUnpredictable. A bad month with a server failure can blow the budget with no warning.A monthly figure you can plan around, billed in arrears, month to month after a three month minimum, and project work scoped up front.
Who owns the outcomeYou do. The provider closes the ticket and moves on until the next call.We do. The same engineers know your environment and carry it long term.
Security postureWhatever was left in place last visit. Drifts out of date between jobs.A second sign-in step, protection on every computer and backups an attacker cannot delete, kept in place and checked every month.
Effect on uptimeReactive. Downtime is the trigger for work, so you feel every incident in full. Most issues are prevented or contained early, so disruption to the business stays small.

If your current arrangement only swings into action once something is already down, that is the gap worth closing. We can walk you through what managed support would cover for your Sydney team.

Security baseline

Essential Eight and cyber security in Sydney.

Underneath it all we work to the Essential Eight, the eight security measures published by the Australian Signals Directorate. We check where you sit, agree the level you need, then close the gaps in stages without stopping the business. ASD published the Essentials series in October 2026 as the next step, and that work counts as evidence towards it.

Each industry has its own regulatory and operational expectations. Sydney healthcare and aged care providers carry obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme run by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). Defence supply chain businesses are pulled into Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) obligations. Financial services firms work to APRA CPS 234 and ASIC obligations. Across all of these, the Essential Eight is the practical baseline most insurers, auditors and prime contractors expect to see evidenced, so we design the service around those frameworks rather than against them.

Where we tend to start in Sydney

  • One Australian helpdesk that knows your setup, with no offshore call centre
  • Microsoft 365 set up properly, with a second sign-in step for everyone and admin access kept to a few people
  • Security software on every computer, watched around the clock, with backups an attacker cannot delete
  • Work to the Essential Eight and SMB1001, with written evidence for insurers, clients and auditors
  • For financial services firms, records that help answer questions under APRA CPS 234

Built for your seat

Whether you sign the cheques or carry the pager, we are built for you

Managed IT in Sydney means something different to a managing director than it does to the person who gets the 4pm call that the file server is down. We work to both. Choose the seat you sit in.

  • For business leaders: Predictable cost, contained risk and an IT partner who speaks plainly

You do not want to become an IT expert. You want a fixed monthly number, APRA and insurer questions answered with evidence, and risk explained in language a Sydney board can act on. That is the relationship we build with leadership teams here.

    • A fixed monthly cost, no surprise invoices. Per-user pricing you can budget twelve months out, with project work quoted up front. No padded hourly bills after every incident.
    • Cyber risk you can actually report on. We translate Essential Eight maturity, insurance evidence and incident readiness into a one-page position your board and insurer both understand.
    • Continuity that survives a bad day. Immutable backup, tested recovery and a written incident plan, so a ransomware event or a flooded server room is a managed event, not a crisis.
    • One accountable team. A named team that owns the outcome, month to month after a three month minimum. If we are not earning the relationship, you are free to leave.
    Book a leadership conversation
  • For IT managers: Co-managed support that takes the load without taking your job

You know your environment. What you need is depth behind you: after-hours cover, a second set of senior hands on the hard tickets, and tooling you do not have to run alone. We work alongside internal IT in Sydney, not over the top of it.

    • Co-managed, not replaced. You keep ownership of the environment and the relationships. We provide the escalation path, the project muscle and the cover when you are on leave.
    • Senior escalation when it counts. Direct access to engineers who have handled M365 tenant rebuilds, identity hardening and serious incident recovery. No tier-one runaround.
    • Tooling and monitoring, run for you. EDR, patching, identity and backup monitoring delivered as a managed service, so you are not maintaining six consoles on your own.
    • Documentation you can hand over. Standardised runbooks, asset registers and change records, so the environment is supportable whether it is you or us on the keyboard.

AI readiness for Sydney businesses

Copilot, Gemini and shadow AI are already inside most Sydney workplaces.

Before you switch on Copilot or another AI tool, we check what it would be able to see, fix files shared too widely and weak sign-ins, then set it up for your staff and support it. From 10 December 2026, the Privacy Act also requires businesses covered by it to explain in their privacy policy when computer programs make decisions about people using personal information, so we help you write that down too.

Close to you

Across Sydney and the surrounding region.

Same team, same security baseline, same ticket queue, wherever the call comes from. On site when it adds value, remote first the rest of the time.

We have people in Sydney and most support is done remotely, so a business in the CBD, North Sydney, Parramatta, the Northern Beaches or the Inner West gets the same engineers as one in Brisbane or Melbourne. We come on site when a job needs it.

Common Sydney and surrounding areas we work in include Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Chatswood, St Leonards, Pyrmont, Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, Alexandria, Mascot, Parramatta, Castle Hill, Norwest, Baulkham Hills, Macquarie Park, Bondi, Northern Beaches, Manly, Dee Why, Brookvale, Frenchs Forest, Mosman, Liverpool, Bankstown, Penrith and Blacktown. If your office or site is not listed, please ask.

If your business runs across several sites in New South Wales or nationally, we hold the whole picture under one managed IT agreement. One security baseline, one ticket queue, one named team. Whichever site calls in, the response is the same.

How an engagement starts

The first weeks with us in Sydney.

No big-bang migration and no ripping things out on day one. We inherit your environment carefully, document what we find, then fix the risk in a sensible order.

  1. Step 1Week 1: We look before we touch anything

A full review of your environment first: identity, devices, Microsoft 365 tenant, backup, and where the actual risk sits. No changes until we understand what we have inherited.

  2. Step 2Weeks 2 to 3: You get a plain-English picture

A documented baseline of where you are against the Essential Eight, what is exposed, and a prioritised plan. You see the whole thing, in language a board can read, before we spend a dollar fixing it.

  3. Step 3Weeks 3 to 8: We fix the high-risk gaps first

A second sign-in step for everyone, protection on every computer, logins from risky places blocked and a backup we test go in first, because they lower the most risk for the least disruption. Staged so the business keeps running while we work.

  4. Step 4Ongoing: We stay accountable, not absent

Day-to-day support with a named team, regular reviews of where your security posture sits, and a roadmap that keeps moving. The unglamorous work continues long after onboarding.

Questions

The questions Sydney businesses ask us.

Do you support businesses in Sydney?

Yes. We have people in Sydney and most support is done remotely, so businesses in the CBD, North Sydney, Parramatta, the Northern Beaches and across Greater Sydney get the same engineers as clients anywhere in Australia. We come on site when a job needs it.

What does looking after our IT actually include?

A helpdesk that knows your setup, Microsoft 365 managed and secured, security software on every computer, updates, backups we test, and new starters and leavers handled properly. When something goes wrong, we own it until it is fixed.

Can you help a financial services firm with APRA CPS 234?

Yes. CPS 234 is the APRA standard for information security. We put in place the controls it expects, such as access controls, incident response planning and a record of third parties, and keep the documents your board and auditors ask for.

We have offices in more than one city. Can you look after all of them?

Yes. We set every site up the same way, with one helpdesk and one set of security settings, whether your offices are in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or a regional town.

Are we locked into a contract?

No. After a three month minimum term you are month to month, with 60 days notice and no exit fees. You are billed in arrears, so you only pay for support you have already had.

What does managed IT cost in Sydney?

Plans run from $150 to $500 per user per month ex GST, depending on how much support is included. Projects and on-site work are quoted up front. Use our pricing calculator for a custom estimate.
