How we got here
Built over a decade, not a funding round.
Real Bytes did not appear overnight. It grew out of two long-running Brisbane practices and a deliberate decision to do IT differently: senior engineers, honest advice, and accountability for the whole environment.
Real Bytes is a computer consultant and managed IT services provider based in Brisbane. A computer consultant gives expert advice and hands-on support across information technology, covering IT strategy, network and server infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud migration, Microsoft 365 management and ongoing IT support. We deliver all of that with no lock-in contracts.
2013
Two Brisbane providers join forces
BCCIT and EDC&IT, two established Brisbane IT providers with deep roots in education and small business, merged. The combined team brought more than twenty years of hands-on experience supporting Queensland schools and SMEs under one roof.
2017
The team becomes Real Bytes
The merged business rebranded as Real Bytes, with a clear position: plain-English IT delivered by engineers who take ownership, not a ticket-counting helpdesk. The focus stayed on long-term client relationships rather than transactional support.
2018
Cloud and cybersecurity move to the centre
As Australian cyber threats escalated and Microsoft 365 adoption accelerated, the team invested heavily in certification and modern workplace delivery, and became an ACSC Network Partner.
2021
A dedicated security practice
Real Bytes stood up a dedicated cybersecurity and threat-detection practice, with mature tooling, managed detection and a proactive methodology rather than reactive clean-up after an incident.
2024
CyberCert Gold
The business achieved CyberCert Gold within the Australian SMB1001 framework, evidencing mature security practices against a recognised local benchmark that insurers and tenders actually ask for.
