IT That Keeps Your Registers Running

Downtime in retail costs you revenue. Real Bytes manages the technology behind your stores so your team can focus on selling, not troubleshooting.

POS support, multi-site management, PCI DSS compliance, and retail wireless design. One provider for every store.

The Problems Retailers Tell Us About

Every retail IT conversation starts with at least one of these.

๐Ÿ’ณ

POS goes down during a sale

A crashed register or failed payment terminal costs you the sale, the customer, and sometimes the queue behind them. Downtime in retail is not an inconvenience, it is lost revenue.

๐Ÿ“ถ

Unreliable WiFi across the floor

Handheld scanners, mobile EFTPOS, and staff devices all depend on wireless. Patchy coverage means staff workarounds, slow stock counts, and frustrated customers.

๐Ÿ”’

PCI DSS compliance pressure

If you take card payments, PCI DSS applies. The rules around cardholder data, network segmentation, and access controls catch many retailers off guard at audit time.

๐Ÿ“ฆ

Multi-site IT nobody owns

Two stores are manageable. Five stores with different setups, different vendors, and no consistent standard becomes a nightmare nobody wants to be responsible for.

Multi-Site IT Management

Consistent IT standards across every location. Centralised monitoring, standardised configurations, and a single support number for every store in your network.

Endpoint Security

EDR, patching, and access control across every device in your retail environment. Staff terminals, back-office workstations, and management systems all protected.

Rapid On-Site Response

When something breaks during trading hours you need it fixed fast. Our team prioritises retail clients during business hours because downtime costs you money every minute.

Compliance

PCI DSS Is Not Optional for Retailers

If your business takes card payments, PCI DSS applies. Banks, payment processors, and card brands require it. Failure to comply can result in fines, increased processing fees, or losing the ability to take card payments altogether.

Real Bytes assesses your current environment, identifies gaps, and implements the network segmentation, access controls, patching, and audit trails that PCI DSS requires. We document everything so you are ready when your bank or QSA asks.

  • Network segmentation between payment and general systems
  • Cardholder data access controls and logging
  • Patch management and vulnerability scanning
  • Annual Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) support
  • Incident response procedures aligned to the OAIC Notifiable Data Breaches scheme
  • Privacy Act and Australian Privacy Principles controls across loyalty and CRM data

What happens if you are not compliant?

FinesMaterial monthly penalties from card brands and acquiring banks for non-compliance
Increased feesHigher processing rates from your payment provider
LiabilityFull cost of breach investigation and card replacement
Reputational damageCustomer trust is hard to rebuild after a payment breach

Growing Retail Networks Need a Different Approach

The first store is easy. By the third or fourth location, inconsistent setups, multiple vendor relationships, and no central visibility start creating real problems. By the time you have ten stores, it is a full-time job just keeping track.

Real Bytes builds a standardised IT platform across your entire retail network. Every store runs the same configuration, monitored from a single dashboard, supported by one team that knows every location.

1

Audit and document every site

We baseline every location, identify inconsistencies, and build a clear picture of your entire environment.

2

Standardise the platform

Consistent network design, device configuration, and security controls rolled out across all stores.

3

Centralised monitoring

Every site visible from one dashboard. Issues flagged before they impact trading.

4

One support number

Any store, any issue. One call, one team that knows your entire environment.

Part 2 of the Cyber Security Act 2024 (Cth) and the Cyber Security (Security Standards for Smart Devices) Rules 2025 commenced on 4 March 2026. Retailers acting as importers or distributors of relevant connectable consumer products must hold a statement of compliance for products supplied to the Australian market. Products manufactured before 4 March 2026 are not in scope, but anything new to your range from that date forward needs compliance evidence on file. Build the compliance check into your buying and onboarding process.
